A Request for Local Talent

The population of New Babbage is, without a doubt, the most talented and creative group on the grid. I have in mind an event that will showcase this local creativity. May I present for your entertainment and consideration:

THE NEW BABBAGE TALENT SHOW!

Imagine seeing several incredible acts, one at a time, with each act lasting about five minutes. As if that wasn’t enough, now imagine that during each act, you (along with every other audience member) rate the current act with a score from one to ten! It’s the New Babbage version of the Gong Show, with everyone participating!

At the conclusion of the Talent Show, the top two acts with the highest scores are announced and are awarded the cash from the tip jar.

I have scripted a contest board that will announce the acts and keep up with the scoring. It works well, and I am rather proud of it. It’s one of the few things I’ve made that doesn’t blow up or catch fire.

In order to make this Talent Show a reality, I am requesting the following:

• VENUE – If anyone has a good place to hold such an event, I would love to borrow or rent it for the evening. Perhaps a percentage of the tips could go to the venue owner? The rest of the tips would go to the first and second place contest winners.

• ACTS – If you are interested in performing, please let me know.
o Each act could be arranged by an individual or a small group.
o Each act would need to last about five minutes
o I prefer all acts to be urchin friendly. Please refrain from gore or nudity.

• HELP – I need help in running this event. Anyone who wishes to help keep things organized, please let me know.

• SUGGESTIONS – If you have any ideas about how the talent show should be run and especially if you see any pitfalls that I’m about to step into, please inform me.

I do hope there are enough people interested in performing in a talent show to make this event possible. I also hope to find a suitable venue. I am very eager to see just what our talented residents can come up with!
