Congratulations to the winners of the Dirtiest Oiler portrait contest:
FIRST PLACE. Annechen Lowey. Apart from being smudged with grime, the composition of the photo and the backdrop are exemplary of Steampunk.

SECOND PLACE. Beq Janus.
the combination of dangerous elements with the serenity of her pose

THIRD PLACE. Jedburgh30 Dagger. Jed shows a mastery of the machine and a willingness to roll up sleeves and get down with the grease.

FOURTH PLACE. Osric Worbridge. Well, it looks like the machine fought back and he just looks down right grimy.

Congratulations to the winners of the Honking Big Machine contest:
FIRST PLACE. Rip Wirefly's Steamhammer. Remorseless, powerful, and as a result elegant. IN the end it was the sense of realism that put it over the top.

SECOND PLACE. Cutea Benelli's Honkodrome (formerly known as bob aka kate). What to say? Immense, pointless, and endlessly compelling. There's no question this one commanded attention among the entire field of entries.

THIRD PLACE. Bob Streeter's Saw Blade Phonograph. Large, annoying, and immediately recognizable. (Sound like anyone we know?) Great texturing as well.

HONORABLE MENTION (even though it wasn't officially entered). Elfod Nemeth's Dropforge Clock. Too many prims, yes, but wonderfully designed and a pleasure to watch at the top of the hour.

Thanks to my fellow judges Gatsby Szuster, Viv Trafalgar and Greg Merryman for making some tough calls.

And HUGE congratulations to everyone who competed. Every entry was tremendously inventive and showed precisely the sense of creativity and wit we prize in Babbage. Well done!

Although i find myself disgusted by the fact i only got third place i suppose i will have to accept it as yet another telling point made by the artistically illiterate numpties who run this show. A classic example of what is wrong with this town! When will you people realise my superiority in ALL things and just give me first whether i compete or not! Dear GOD!

i dont get the recognisable reference though... I don't know anyone that annoying in Babbage... well, maybe Rip. Or Dr Dayafter, he's pretty annoying. Breezy annoys the hell out of me too, but i think thats just anyone under school height. OOOoh! You mean CEEJAY! A fair point well made then. She does my NUT in!

((I'm actually very pleased indeed :) thank you! Any winnings are headed for RFL (Babbage Section) in return for the karma i have lost due to all of you who had to put up with the bloody racket for the last few days :P ))

Last night I wore a Black Canary (female superhero) costume to the club. I didn't realize the folder holding the outfit contained an attaching Black Canary SCREAM, and it took about 10-15 minutes before someone asked me if that annoying screech was coming from myself. I had music on but sounds off so didn't notice.

So, I guess I know a bit what it must feel like to be Bob.

((congrats, and I recognized your handiwork before I even saw the sign with your name! Your machine screamed Bob. Among other sounds.))
