New Babbage

A Steampunk Community

Does anyone have or know where I can find a definitive listing of recognized Steampunk Communities in Second Life?

Gracias!

We'd briefly mentioned some other sims who should or shouldn't be added to to the list in the staff forum over there recently. Whether the Miskatonic Valley should be approached was mine. I'm sure Mr. Longstaff would be happy to add Armada into the fold if you drop him a message :-)

I think being included in the list is a function of participating on the site and letting Excal know. Hard to say whether that or any list is "definitive" what with SL being a pretty big place and all.

Agreed - sadly more small independent Steampunk sims have fallen to the wayside as of late, such as Gaslit, Air Caravan, the French Steampunk Sextant, and Civvies/Plunder's main air-platform store to name a couple of recent victims.

Though, one has been continually been renovated and redone as of late, and certainly merits a visit (event if the sim is not exclusively Steampunk). Paris 1900 has undergone a third round of rennovations after its "divorce" from the French "mega-sim" of Libertia (as far as I can deduce). It does have a new Moulin Rouge, an even bigger Eiffel tower (than the previous sim had), and an excellent "Tivoli" fair nearby, with a Ferris wheel, carousel, a shooting gallery, and a small red tent for "burlesque shows" - very well constructed. A nice place, but beware when walking along the "left bank" - some of the walk ways are still phantom, and it is annoying to get out of them. Overall, Paris 1900 (et al - Paris Art, Paris Acadamie) are an excellent era sim.

one day i dream that linden lab will have an sim moving charge amnesty and all the sim owners could move together into groups of 'islands' or some such with bridges or ferries between them. I think it would do us all good and maybe save some from extinction.

Gaslit never seemed to have moved from the still building stage whenever I would pop over to see what had been added. Could have been a nice sim if it ever got started.
