We think: Steampunk, victorian style and times of XIX are most amazing in history of Great Britain, USA, France, Germany, Russia and other states. Inventions and insanity, sanctity of morphine, style and poverty near each other, genius and vice - all of these times.

We think: Steampunk is the most interesting design style nowdays. For painters, moviemakers, cartoon artists, designers and writers of all sorts. Now and forever.

We think: People of all nations (Germans, French, Spanish, Russians and other) are interested to know more about steampunks, more and more from year to year. Russian Empire's history of the XIX century is rich of inventors, scientists, geniuses, criminals, detectives and fraudsters.

And.

We think: Our Competition can help us to award famous SL-steampunks and help us to know more about victorian and steampunk in metaverse and universe itself.

That's why we decided to establish the International Competition "Tear of gears '09".
This is not just a competition of avatars (which are limited to the trite competition of skins' and outfits' producers). This is a contest of images, style and lives!
