LOL...that's brilliant. Dangerous, but brilliant.

Mate, all I can tell you that between keeping that wonderful dome and rebeuilding the Seraph at a later date, I had to choose the Seraph. Young Bob has every bit of that build, and it can be re-made at any point, anywhere he chooses. You know...ex...

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
As stated below, the Seraph crashed brutally into the depths of the Vernian Sea. The Seraph's Chief Engineer, Mr. Oryl, and I effected to repair any breaches to the hull of the Seraph, keeping the waters of the Vernian from ruining the ship's interior.

We (the remaining crew of the S.S. Seraph and myself) were certain of our impending demise, but as I stripped to my skivvies and entered the waters of the Vernian, I learned of its incredible properties...my crew and I walked the sea floor amongst peaceful sea life, and came away refreshed and rejuvenated...possibly even restored to our physical prime. We found ourselves launching with renewed energy to the surface of the waters - only to continue flying into the sky itself! It would seem that we have unwittingly discovered elements which are mythic on our home worlde. These are indeed miraculous lands. Until we can gather more aetheric fuel and effect further repairs...this is our new home.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
Mortgan Maelstorme was born in Ryverpoole (a city very much like London) on a worlde very much like Earth (which he refers to as Æarthe). Mael was the bastard son of an infamous pirate captain (Captain James Reid "Red James" Maelstorme) and a prostitute (Ms. Seraphina Mortgan). Mael's mother was kind to him, and did the best she could for the boy. However, she grew very ill from tuberculosis. Young Mael was forced to steal for food and medicine. At the age of 6, Mael was orphaned and alone; his mother dead.

At the age of 9, Mael was the leader of a gang of urchin thieves on the streets of Ryverpoole. He dreamed and told his fellow urchins stories of the untamed sea and foreign lands he meant to explore one day. One day, young Mael picked the wrong pocket, finding himself hoisted into the air with a sabre at his throat. This encounter with Lord Captain Everett P. Smythe (a privateer for the Anglian navy) was the turning point in young Mael's unfortunate young life. Lord Smythe was so impressed with the boy's intelligence and spirit that he, a confirmed bachelor, adopted the boy as his son. Mael was raised at sea by Lord Smythe, his First Mate, Mr. Duranjaya, and the rest of the crew of the H.M.S. Archangel. He took the name Mortgan Maelstorme Smythe, and left his past behind him in favor of a life of adventure.

As an adult, Mael became an Anglian war hero against the Lansian Empire. He has also been renowned as an infamous privateer for the Anglian navy, an explorer/naturalist, and a self-proclaimed "gentleman of fortune". He was rumored to have been recruited as a spy, explorer and peacekeeping air knight by the Black Signet, a mysterious Æarthian international protectorate society. However, this has not been confirmed. Captain of the S.S. Seraph for many years, he was among the first aetheric airship captains of Æarthe. His adventures continued, and the Seraph was eventually equipped as the first Æarthian space vessel, complete with solar sails and aetheric engines.

Captain Smythe's latest voyage saw the crew of the Seraph narrowly escape a violent raid. Severely damaged, the Seraph crashed heavily into the Vernian Sea, further damaging the ship's engine room. The ship's doctor, Dr. Augustus Dayafter, was commanded to find safe harbor for the surviving crew. Dr. Dayafter discovered New Babbage, and found a home there for the crew until the Seraph can be repaired...if she can be repaired. Until then, Mael has contented himself with creating and exploring in this new place that reminds him so much of his better childhood memories of Ryverpoole, as well as the fast friendships he has found with the new land's impressive inhabitants.

Attacking Our Moderators? Really?

It normally takes a lot to get me angry. Congratulations, folks.

Those of you who have been venting frustrations over the increased tension over the election and the possible repercussions...I can understand your actions. Those of you who are taking pot shots at moderators for trying to do their jobs...you should be utterly ashamed of yourselves.

I might remind you that these moderators are spending an awful lot of their personal time moderating the Babbage Ning. Volunteering. What do you expe… Continue

The Future of New Babbage: My Two Shillings

Totally OOC:

First off, let me just say that I avoid the political as a whole; both in Real Life and in Second Life. I make my decisions based on the things I care about, as, I suppose, we all do. I believe that both of our esteemed candidates deserve to be heard and respected, and may the best man win. As I did not want this post to seem to favor either of them, I'm entirely leaving out any mention of them. B/c in the end, what matters is the integrity of New Babbage, and not another damned th… Continue

Captain Maelstorme, I did not get a chance to thank you for the pleasant conversation. I hope we get the opportunity to speak in the future.

As for myself, I am still recovering! I fear my feet shall never be the same. I shall likely be paying a visit to Mr. Whitfield's free clinic quite soon.

Sir, I regret that I have been unresponsive to your offer of friendship in this venue. I have been helping my friend GeorgeWashington Carver set up the GUILD Academy in New Toulouse. We are nearing completion of the initial build and I should be able to return to New Babbage soon. I flew over the other day and hardly recognized the place. These sims grow up so quickly. I look forward to our future conversations.
