Tired of everybody being soooo grateful for everything? Weary of stores already playing christmas music round the clock? Has your tinsel been decked just one too many times already? Here's to the Grinches... the Scrooges... the Malcontents of the...

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
The RL answer: A YouTube link posted on Brass Goggles.

The SL answer: An unfortunate encounter with airship pirates left me stranded and Linden-less on an unfamiliar coastline. Upon awakening from my unconscious state and exploring my new environment, encountering some of its friendly citizens along the way, I decided it might be a nice place to settle. Now, I just need to find some (preferably aboveboard and honest) way of earning my keep.

As for my past, I am afraid that my recent trauma has left my memory sketchy. However, I'm sure that as time goes on, memories of my backstory will eventually return.... ;-)
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
I am an office services specialist (i.e. secretary/receptionist) by day and part-time writer in the evening, on weekends, or whenever the Muse inspires me. I have recently (in the past year?) discovered steampunk and am an active participant in the Brass Goggles Steampunk Forum. (You would find me there as "Lady Penelope.") I am married and have two children, both of whom have described me as "weird, but at least you're not boring." Other interests include the SCA, reading, messing with my cats' minds, and dreaming up new costumes...never mind that I hate to sew! I'm new to Second Life, so if I bump into your walls a lot, please pardon my inept attempts at self-navigation. :-D

Penelope Strathearn's Journal--Showdown at the CocoaJava Cafe

[Typist's Note: This blog entry alternates between Penelope Strathearn's and Zachary Somerset's points-of-view.]

Nell

"I don't like it." Somerset frowned as he sipped his coffee.

I cradled my hot chocolate in my hands, waiting for it to cool slightly. "I'm sure it was just my imagination. It was dark--"

"All the more reason not to walk through the alley off Loner Lane, My Lady! That was foolhardy." He set his mug down and fixed me with an exasperated glare. "What if the man wa… Continue

((OOC)) "Victoriental" (Asian inspired) Steampunk/Neo-Victorian clothing

A few of you who might remember me from the Brass Goggles forum when I (Nell's typist) was more active there (under the user name "Lady Penelope") might recall my interest in "Victoriental Steampunk" costuming, due to my personal heritage. (I'm nearly half Spanish-Filipina, with a smidge of Chinese on Mom's side, in addition to all the Celtic/English with a smidge of Cherokee brought in from Dad's side.) This weekend, I managed to get a scan of my Filipino grandparents. Now, keep in mind that my… Continue

We enjoyed speaking with you as well! I do so hope you'll come by Peacock Place for tea sometime. We've taken a townhouse (that which we call Peacock Place) so that we can have a place to entertain in when we are in New Babbage. Peacock Place is a lovely pink house across from some dreaded pirate place.

Yes that's the place! We are just settling in and are planning for our first Entertainment! Though it will be a wee bit before we do that. My sister is even now busy with the gardners setting the garden into some order. :-)
