An iron meteorite struck the site in the prehistoric era of the land where Babbage now stands. The point of impact had a particularly strong ley line running through it, which has remained disrupted up to the present day.

Seconding Book's assessment: New Babbage is--definitely--not all magic. New Babbage is not completely devoid of magic. The truth lies somewhere in between...but leans more toward the no-magic side of the equation. Cheers Moses for some interestin...

Hmmm. Schnapps might be worth a go. Maybe instead of fake ears you could try stretching your own? They'd stay put and not fall off.

there tend to be "God-Mode" problems, where other people perceive you as power-gaming. Note that even if you *don't* do such a thing, just the image of your character as hugely powerful can color people's perceptions. Yes. This. After reading thr...

Has anyone ever raised eyebrows at Mara's caring for the urchins, what with fairies' reputation regarding child-stealing and so on?

The town is called Fuglethrup, which is the corrupted form of its original name, Fugol Thorpe (the Old English "bird village/town"), from the sizable canary farm still to be found on the town's outskirts. One can hear the aviaries for miles on a s...

Oh! Thanks. I found this in a stack of earlier Clockhaven-exploring photos. I must have wandered away from the filename. ;)

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
I have long admired the steampunk aesthetic, and upon exploring SL, found the steampunk realms to be greatly to my liking. The compact, exciting, grimy nature of New Babbage sealed the deal.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
I am an artist, photographer, flâneuse and associated lurker (both in-game and outer-world).

I really like Regency chimney pots.

Introducing Ermintrude

I'd like to introduce you to Ermintrude, my airship and current base of shennanigans. She's an adapted greenhouse (original build by Denver Hax after the hothouse at Chatsworth) with a honking great gas bag in the roof.

As you can see, she's something of a fixer-upper. I managed to get… Continue

Return to Babbage

Back in Babbage after a short spell away on family business (my great-uncle left me his wind-up leg in his will), I can't help but feel I missed something...

Chimneys!

I am pleased to present a small collection of rooftop paraphernalia:

Everything has smoke that's switch off and on-able, and the metal flue does steam as well as smoke. All have full permissions for tweaking purposes. They're all pretty basic as yet, but also pretty low on the prim count; the most is the complete stack with chimney pots on, at… Continue

Deliberation

Would it be too dreadful if, say, one were to name ones studio "Etchings" solely for the purpose of asking people if they would care to come up and "see my Etchings"?

*looks shifty*
