((As noted in the Steelhead discussion)) I suspect Dr. Obolensky found his law degree in the same box of Cracker Jack where he got his medical license.

((I was quite unsure of the date, and more or less picked '79 out of a hat. But I'm inclined to go along with Dr. O that it ought to be 18--, like in a novel of the period!))

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
I was introduced to New Babbage by my client, Miss Eugenia Burton. I am a resident of Steelhead.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
Born in Strakonice, South Bohemia (fez-making capital of the world), 1828. Studied law at the Charles University in Prague. Left university to fight in the failed Revolution of 1848 against the Hapsburg Empire. Fled post-revolutionary Austria-Hungary and came to America with Lajos Kossuth. Fought with the Union army in the U.S. Civil War, taking to drink after witnessing the unspeakable carnage. After the war, went west to organize railway and timber workers in California for the newly-formed Knights of Labor. Fled California, one step ahead of Mr. Jay Gould and his Pinkerton agents, finding refuge in the quiet hamlet of Steelhead, where he maintains a small law practice and slakes his unquenchable thirst for rye whisky at the charming local saloon.
