- What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
- I'm in New Babbage seeking marriage to a upstanding Cambridge gentleman of immense inheritance, means, and . . . generosity. In the meantime, I toil to watch over my sisters, Airmid and Peace Pennyfeather, keep an open ear (and some say, a loose tongue) for the latest high-society gossip, and tend to my embroidery.
- Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
- I'm a lady of premiere breeding and culture, born to aristocratic parents in New York, and later, in my travels across the sea, a dear friend and confidante of the French Duke and Duchess of Versailles (who was telling me just the other day. . . .). I have come to New Babbage at the request of my sisters, for a new beginning, aghast to find not a bellboy in sight to tend to my luggage. A firm adherent to the established social order, despite the calamitous loss of our family fortune and mounting personal debts, I'm likely to be found in search of supposed royalty, a ball, an expensive gown, highly dubious rumors, the mayor (to whom I routinely complain about the dimly lit streets after dark), or a well-dressed gentleman. I'm fond of the finest Babbage cafes, where, with my nose in the air, I peruse Dr. Edmund LeFluer's "A Lady's Guide to Virtue." Whispers of an "embellished past," a "distressed mind," a "penchant for vodka elixirs," or anything less than flawless French are, of course, greatly exaggerated.
