Your backgrounds for inspiration are really neat. It's fun to see how there are so many different inspirations. I understand the desire to be free and play as an urchin. I guess what I'm thinking is I'd be the editor and people would submit artic...

My inspiration is right out of the 1968 film OLIVER!, with equal parts of innocent Oliver and street-wise Dodger.

That's a wonderful example of how character and personal experience in SL can change and evolve over time, which I don't think you can get in any over mmo

Well, this is going to sound like the butt kissing of the century and I know that I shall not live it down... Finley was inspired by DPB and Loki. When I (as Doctor Dayafter) met Jimmy, after being friends with DPB for a long while, I instantly f...

I mosty associate with characters like Anne of Green Gables, Pollyanna, Little orphan Annie with a lotta Nancy Drew and anime heroines mixed in. I'm also insired by an old cartoon called Orson and Olivia which I haven't seen for years

I think many an urchin will identify with some of those traits. There is no one inspiration for the urchins of new Babbage. I'm sure if asked they will give a whole list of their inspirations, me for one - laputa, Oliver, thief lord, baker street ...

I had this idea for a while, though I'm not sure how well I'd be able to work on it because of my internet, I thought I'd throw it out there. I know there is a good sized urchin populous here in New Babbage, so I thought after reading "Les Misera...

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
I heard about it from a video posted on the blog BoingBoing
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
I'm an writer, game designer, artist and crypto-anthropologist. I have a wide range of interests including language and the study of culture.

I'm currently working on (procrastinating) a novel, an adaption of a novel to a play, a few pen & paper RPG projects, and a web comic[1]. I'm also working on a series of short SL book on Salthans that I hope to have available to sell soon.

I also write for the bikaesh foundation page (www.bikaesh.pbwiki.com), which is a non-profit organization dedicated to research on the Salthan people.

[1]The comic is drama/comedy about a boy who believes in nothing beyond what he sees accidentally running into an angel who ends up going to his school and living with him. I'm hoping this will be more than a comedy, and have an interesting deep story to it. If you happen to be an artist free to do a project and are interested, please let me know. I'm pretty open to feedback.

Back in Town

How nice it is to see New Babbage again. I missed the city, and I did not realize how much until I was walking down it's streets again. It seems there has been quite a bit of change, I noticed one rather large looking store with some promising and interesting things for sale. Hopefully I will be able to stay for a while.

Now, maybe I can finally host that symposium on xeno-anthropology!

Taking a trip

It seems I must take an indeffinite leave of absense from the land of New Babbage. I'll try to keep connected through the ning, though I don't know how long it will be untuil I can return.

I'll contenue to give to give my morale support for the resistance movement at least. :)

[[My Cable company disconnected my cable. My problem goes beyond service so this may very well be a much more long term thing. ]]

Trolley Crash at CocoaJava

I was at Ceejay's place, collecting my thoughts and looking through notes about different groups when I was suddenly struck in the back by an erring street car that collided with one of the posts of the cafe!

Thankfully I wasn't injured, and the street car managed to realign it… Continue

An Attempt on he life of Obolenksy

I saw by chance Obolensky by the harbor, so I tried to sneak a little "present" underneath him. "Sic semper Tyranus!" I yelled and detonated a bomb, but he sadly leaped away in time. He then shot me with a bee gun! I shall continue to work against him until the Clockwinder's return. I am currently in hiding, plotting my next act after I finish putting ointment on my wounds.

Call to arms!

My goodness the minute the Clockwinder is away there's a cou detat! When I saw the announcement and saw the robots around the city I joined the Militia right away!

I have already detonated one bomb on one of those blasted tin men at Abney Parkway by the waterfront, emitting a gooey substance that should hold it in place at least for a few hours. Join me brothers and sisters in revolt until our true government returns!

Sorry for getting back to you so late! I just now saw your comment!

I think collaborating would be a lovely idea! I understand Jenny Merryman had an interest in this venture as well, so you may want to contact her, also. I think communicating on the ning would be the best way, since my in-world times are a bit wonky.

I'm going to try reading my first bit (2 short chapters) of a short story/novel I've been working on over at the writer's circle on Wednesday at 3pm SLT.
it looks like a good place to get feedback if you're a writer.

It looks like I'm loosing my internet soon because I can't afford it any more. My internet is going to be restricted to the library, and since i can't use SL on the library (I don't think I'm going to try incuring the wrath of the librarians :P ) I'm going to be off possibly as soon as April 1st.

This means that I won't be working on Bibliophile magazine anymore. Anyone is welcome to take it over if they want and do it instead.

i may have the wrong person but i'm wondering if you are the gentleman i ran into outside of a cafe my first day in babbage (and sl) and gave me the link to the ning? (i looked different then having not purchased a skin/shape yet)

if you are the same gentleman i'd like to thank you as the ning has proved very useful and has been a step into my deciding to stay in babbage. and i'd like to extend my handshake out as "friend"

(if this isn't well then my most sincere apologies, i was quite for sure the gentleman's name was mason)
