They are one of my favourite things and Clockhaven needs them!

I was hoping you'd rescue the protest railings :)

It doesn't strike me as restrictive, given the scope even within the example pictures posted. This is the sort of thing I tend to picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/19365058@N06/3478930001/ - a swift Google yielded that because I'm a bit lazy -...

From what the Clockwinder has said think English Civil War period through to late 19th century. With a dab of DaVinci-esque thrown in. I can be very restrictive if you look at it a certain way but that's also about 300 years worth of architectural...

Ah yes. Clockhaven is where I will be, hence my slight overwhelmedness at the lack of a context in which to build. This discussion has been very helpful in that it's oddly a relief to know that there aren't highly-codified toes on which to trample...

My apologies Edward...i did, in fact, misunderstand and do appreciate your broad view of what's possible. Truth be told, I agree with you much more often than not. I hope you take that as a compliment.

My apologies Edward...as usual, we do in fact agree..

Miss Voom, perhaps you've misunderstood my comments. Yes the new sim will be "old city" but that still leaves a broad canvas to paint on - in fact possibly moreso. In Babbage Square a 14th century building would be out of place. In Clockhaven it w...

Edward... Please, with all due respect...I believe the newly proposed sims are to be more heavily 'in theme' as per Tenk's imagination than existing sims. I think it's yet to be seen whether what one builds is entirely "up to you". I have no ide...

Really the building is up to you. If you want to collaborate with neighbours then you can. There are instances where building layouts have been altered to match a similar idea from a neighbour. The only downside to this is whether a future neighbo...

I would say that it's best to fall on the side of collaboration than not...just as a general statement, regardless of the individual sim. I've yet to feel that anyone was "irked" by my silly questions, and believe me, i have posed many. I would s...

What Mr. Mureaux said. You may also wish to go check out the New Babbage Community Stockyard. Drop a note to Mr. Salazar Jack in-world letting him know of your status as a resident once the new place opens up, and he may be able to let you in earl...

Ta very much :) I think the thing I find daunting is looking at the map and fretting. I suspect it'll all make more sense once there's a real live actual sim there. Looking at pictures of the sort of buildings mentioned in the forum post it does ...

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
Ms Chav Paderborn and I had a deplorable plague-ridden steampunk quarter-sim with suffragette leanings and now that we're selling up I decided I'd rather be deplorable in a small corner of a town than in vast acreage, and Clockhaven seems as small and cornerish as could possibly be wished. I shall therefore be attempting to create a small cornerlike presence in preparation for a place in which to put it.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
I'm not sure what sort of background you want and I'm slightly frightened now. I suspect that I ought to write in a slightly more Victorian fashion but I am already rather too stylistically irksome to risk the absorption of additional affectations.
Do you have a website?

I Covet This Clock

This one here.

Maybe I will apply my no skills at all to it when I've stopped bingeing on seventeenth-century political grumbling.

Ponder Ponder Ponder

I've never had to plan a plot that made sense in the context of the adjacent plots. Mainland mainly requires hiding the giant ugly somethingorother next door as far as possible. And when there isn't a context yet it's a bit daunting because I don't even have the option of being as unobtrusive as possible by blending in with next door. I'm new and bewildered too, so I don't know the etiquette or whether there's a degree of collaborative planning involved. Will potential neighbours be irked if I f… Continue
