- 'Ello. Quill Batriani here.
I was born to the seafaring family of Batrianis who are famous .... er .... in other places. I went to sea as cabin boy on the Black Heart, which was a little bit piratey, I admit, but we never done any real damage .... er ... very often, even though we was relentlessly chased through the seven seas until we was shipwrecked off the coast of ... er ... somewhere or other, I'm not at liberty to say. There may have been treasure involved, and there may not. I don't want to talk about it.
I was washed up bedraggled like, and made me way to a town about a hundred miles from New Babbage, in which I were not appreciated on account of me bein' a bit mouthy and getting in people's way and asking questions all the time like "Who are you?" and "What's that for?" and "Can I have one?" and that kind o' thing.
So I left that place and hopped a train and did some travellin' and 'ad me some adventures. And then I met a girl called Myrtil who told me about this place so I came here and it's alright I suppose. Myrtil showed me around a bit and then I met Jimmy and he showed me around a bit more, and now I met some other people like Miss Mara and Mrs G...something and Mr Wexthingy and some others an' all, and they seems like decent people. But I hear there is villains. I know there are. I met some of them an' all.
So I'm hopin' to get to know more of the people. I reckon I'll stick around for a while anyways. New Babbage might be the place to seek me fortune. And me breakfast.

- I is a pirate orphan. I am hardly ever piratey these days. Hardly never. Barely ever at all.
I don't like the police, nor school. I like the sea, airships and eggs.

Oh yes, also, don't join the O's youth corp... They might try to lure you in with scones, cookies or... eggs? But they're just a bunch of bloody bloomin' villains! Especially the one with the fake moustache... But if it really is a dead squirrel, he might have a lil' "accident" very soon...
