What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
What is rumored to this point: Mr. Wexhome (which is not likely his real name) is fleeing from somewhere/something associated with his past and has ended up in New Babbage.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
Mr. Wexhome is a bit of a mystery, evidently by design to protect himself and the town from something tied to his past. He has endeavored to keep his relocation secret, but always manages to end up catching a little of the spotlight.

It is known now that he has knowledge of weapons, warfare, and a cold, experienced demeanor when engaged. Nothing more is known concerning this...

A few persons who have grown close to Mr. Wexhome have begun to witness changes in his character of late. Indeed, something of a grave nature is affecting his behavior; it is something he had given up that is once again in his possession (and not necessarily by choice)...and it is something, as might be suspected, that is tied to a painful...hidden past.

Temporary Departure

Hello All,

For those Babbagers that know me best, they have known for some time that this moment was going to happen. For those that don't, I will permit you a small look into my Typist's life. My Typist's employment requires that he travel periodically for extended stays in less than hospitable parts of the world...places no sane Babbager might find themselves. Tomorrow he will be embarking on yet another one of these trips. Don't fear at all for me, as I have been assured that I will be back… Continue

"A Tangled Web..." (One of many "sidebar" happenings concerning the "Duty First..." storyline)

It had been a tedious effort for Mr. Emerald to remain patient in light of what he had learned from the conversation with Phineas Frakture. A disquieting smile played at his eyes and lips; the young man’s delicate fingers tooled the edges of the worn book sprawled on the table before him. Thayer was clearly in this “quaint” little burg, but not in possession of the object Emerald was tasked to retrieve…no, Thayer had been careless enough to leave it in the hands a small, defenseless and impovContinue

...Self Second. (A continuation of 'Duty First')

It seemed that there would be no end to this rain; the ebb and flow was so subtle as to be indiscernible, but it never stopped. The cool wash, for as much of it as there was, was still not enough to clean the “sooty city”. Byron smiled weakly at that thought and others, the steady cadence of a clock (in odd harmony with the patter of rain upon the surrounding environment) his “only” company. Without looking, he drew the pocket watch from his vest, feeling the labors of its work course throughContinue

Duty First.

Byron stands alone in his apartment, right hand resting upon the mantle of his fireplace, eyes burning as bright as the fire they feverishly search. He feels the “tick-tock” of the clock upon the mantle reverberate through his very being. His normally composed demeanor beset with trepidation...his weathered brow wet with perspiration...his twin Webleys seated with an untouched measure of scotch on the table just behind him. Byron summons a quiet that has been absent for some time; an acquiredContinue

(OOC) Canal Street Snitch

For those of you who have enjoyed the latest and evidently more difficult to read edition, there maybe more to come. I have had many compliments and requests, both inworld and on the Ning, and I would like to live up to those kind words and requests. This generates some questions for me, however. I would like to know if the short headline version is sufficient, or if everyone would like to see more pages? Should it be kept on the Ning, or printed inworld from now on? Would anyone likeContinue

Welcome to Babbage, Mr. Wexhome! I do apologize for practically throwing myself at you on our first meeting ah, the perils of transporting to a new location without knowing precisely who/what is at the other end!, but I'm glad you're starting to get settled in here. *grin*

I sent some info and pictures to your off-Ning email, since it would've exceeded the Ning's private message length. Do take a peek at your other inbox when you get the chance, if you haven't already.
