What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
My memory is poor, but I recall chancing across Mayor Shaunathan Sprocket and two fine young ladies; Molly Underwood and BeatriceOphelia Slade, I believe it was, picnicking within the Botanical Gardens of Straylight one afternoon. I commented them on their most wonderful garb and inquired as the place from whence they had traveled. They pointed me on my way to New Babbage, Antiquity, and Caledon. Upon first arrival in New Babbage, I felt immediately at home and was made welcome by Cornell Mondrian. I'd never heard the term "steampunk" before, but I had always been interested and enthralled by the Victorian era tales of wonder and invention such as those imagined by Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Soon, I met the amazing Sir ArthurConan Doyle. He took me under his wing, mentored me, and introduced me to Thomas Swindlehurst who gave me my start in the dauguereteering trade. After the aimless wandering of Second Life amongst the over-glitzy clubs, lagging commercial centers and fields of billboards, finding New Babbage felt like finding, and indeed, coming home.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
My childhood had been spent in the environs of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, as my family has a long tradition of Naval service. My childhood best friend, also a child of a Naval family was swept away from me, as her father was reassigned to a secret location at some unknown port. When I came of age, I also followed the path of Naval service in the hopes of tracking her down. This was not to be. It was as if she had dropped from the face of the Earth. I became bitter. I went the way of the privateer, air pirate, and cad, and was branded as the black sheep of the family. Eventually, I found my way to New Babbage where I have been attempting to carve a life for myself as an industrial and portrait photographer and to try to put my past behind me. Then came the opportunity to take over Ruby's Pub from the loving, but much too busy, hands of Sir ArthurConan Doyle. In my search for ways to spruce up the venerable old watering hole, I was led to a winery in the hills of Tuscany, where much to my surprise and delight, who should I find but my childhood friend! There she was after all these years! My dear Breezy Carver! Her father had perished at sea, and she had taken up with the owner of the winery. He had also perished many years earlier in a horrible accident involving an all to stubborn mule and a wine press. But she had persevered and turned the winery into a successful operation. Soon we were a merry pair again and she returned to New Babbage with me, leaving the winery in the capable hands of her underlings.
We can usually be found somewheres in the vicinity of Ruby's or at Piermont Landing in the Wheatstone Waterways extension of the Babbage Canals.
I now have a gallery of my photography over Ruby's Pub, and a tattoo parlor on the ratty old houseboat out back.
I am also the Founder of the New Babbage Polar Bear Club - after many absinthe induced stumblings into the canals, I felt quite invigorated and deemed that more appropriate garb might be needed. The club was born.

A Winter Morning and a startling discovery

Breezy and I woke early this morning and went down to the study to sit by the fire and break our fast. Some wonderful hot coa coa and french toast with some bulging sausages did the trick and warmed us for the day.
Then the commotion started. The windows of the study were being pelted with snowballs. Bob. Aye, Bob was out and about early and making mischief already. And the lad was not alone. Aye, young master Django Yifu has returned from travels unknown. But it was not the lads versus the grow… Continue

Content Theft

OOC here...

Not for nothing, but I am always disheartened when I see folks upload works that are not their own, even if they do give credit.

Second Life is a place where people do create their own content, and work very hard to do so. They create their own textures, or obtain textures with which they have been given permission to use. Sure, you can go all over the grid and find tee shirts and flags and posters made with pictures and photos that people have simply downloaded and made thi… Continue

I have been honored!

Why a be a child in Second Life? Loki Eliot knows! I had the extreme pleasure and honor to be on hand to help judge the Great Second Life Children's Pogo Race. Thank you, young sir!

Support Second Life Childeren! Our own New Babbage street urchins are an integral part of the city! It wouldn't be the same place without them.

Black Barnacle Tattoo Parlor

It has been quite a while since any new tattoos have arrived at the shop (conveniently located on the floating rat trap houseboat behind Ruby's Pub in the Canal District, but that is about to change. New designs are being created as we speak and should start arriving at the parlor over the next couple of weeks. (if not sooner). The new offerings will all be mono-toned and fully tintabl… Continue

*laughs* Oh, believe me, I wouldn't be in the least bit offended by you simply dropping it into my inventory! I apologize that I haven't been online much this week. I will log on this evening, if that suits you. I typically can't get online until around 3pm SLT on weekdays. And, since it's Friday, I can really be on anytime after that if 3pm is too early for you. Just let me know what your schedule is and I'll work mine around it! Thank you again! Gus said that it's amazing!

Hmmm...and here I was hoping to educate the little cretans, though that could prove dangerous. Thanks for the advice about Arthur *smiles*

Excellent news about the Dreamliner V2.0! I always thought it regrettable it didn't quite "fit" Babbage so kudos for contacting the creator...I will be saving my pennies now =)

Mr. Dagger....thank you for your kind words about my ship! ((blog)) i'd love to have you and your gorgeous kind lady as guest crew on my ship..manning the cannons and firing black powder at those foolish enough to flee our persuit! ...the booty shall be ours!
and we all can sing together in ringing tones.....
"In days of old, when ships were bold
Just like the men who sailed them
and if they showed us disrespect
we'd tie them up and flail them
often men of low degree
and often men of steel
who'd make you walk the plank alone
or haul you 'round the keel
hoist the Jolly Roger!
it's your money that we want
and your money we shall have!"
Cheers!

Its been years since I've heard any ant music! I fear you are causing the ol' pirate in me to begin to surface once again. And just as Breezy has worked so hard to make me respectable. We shall have to teach dear Breezy how to man the cannons. She catches on quickly. I think her and I would make a pair of formidable gunners. (and she's not to shabby with a pistol in her hands either)

Mister Dagger, thank you for letting me know my moorage is ready for the SS Spanky! I do appreciate you and Breezy making room for me and my ship. Due to circumstances, I have not even set foot on the Wheatstone Waterways yet, and am simply bursting to do so. I shall see you as I can, and you could show me where my wee bit of space is, then?? Thank you again!
