aye i have to agree that the tendancy in this post to use Caledon as a yardstick is tiring. I find it a little bitchy to use another sim as a mark of what we dont want. Babbage has the aesthetic of one of the many variations of Steampunk city (aga...

A daisy sticking through the cobbles now and then. A nice line. Well said.

You admit you made one yourself, then replaced it. Yes. And this was, in part, the result of what I felt to be a growing sense of apathy towards the look and feel of the city. Apathy and sloppiness are contagious, and I am not immune. A little pa...

To quickly add my two or three cents... Yes. As a longtime resident of New Babbage (since July 2007), I have watched the progressive "Caledonization" of the city with great dismay and sadness. I built the Palaeozoic Museum and the Abney Park Lab...

I am most interested in this and the inspiration sounds divine. Hope to hear more soon

I have to say I am most intrigued! That's not to say that I have not enjoyed having the laboratory next door thus far, just that the new construction sounds like quite an undertaking. Please do let me know if I can be of any assistance.

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
Professor Nareth E. Nishi has been involved in New Babbage since July 2007. Though originally occupying a flat in the Canals, she later relocated to the Square, where she built the Palaeozoic Museum and the Abney Park Laboratory.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
Outside the metaverse, I am a freelance dark fantasy and sf writer. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, with my girlfriend (Artemisia Paine in New Babbage) and Siamese cat. I've worked as a vertebrate paleontologist, and am fascinated by astronomy and marine biology. I read more nonfiction than fiction.

As for the Professor's background, though she believed herself to have been born in 1864 to a whore in San Francisco, then adopted by a kindly Japanese physicist whom she long thought to be her father, she eventually came to understand she was the product of far more exotic and unearthly parentage. Having arrived in new Babbage via a time-traveling accident, shortly after the death of her "father" (the cabinets supposed inventor), she almost immediately became involved in a fight against the werewolf Lucius Sin, and then was caught up the infamous Alexander Eliot affair, which very nearly cost her life (and pitted her against a second werewolf, Jason Moriarty). She has since given birth to a daughter, whom she named Elenore. The Professor is particularly fond of the local street urchins and has gone to considerable lengths to keep them safe. She has been largely absent from New Babbage of late, and grim rumours surround her absence. Though aged 23 when she departed her own timeline, the Professor has since learned matters of age and birth may be far more complex and murky than she once believed.
