Thanks for this news, Trilo, and for keeping us up to date. I'm wishing them the best of success. I've been a fan of Thomus Keen's since discovering some of his creations in Not Possible In Real Life. And I like to pop over to Steam-Powered Nuts &...

((The vast time gulf between the preponderance of coal smokestacks and Chernobyl can be mined to produce a wealth of interesting factoids such as the coining of the term "radioactivity" by Marie Curie. Through the intense work of this remarkable s...

Well I'll be darned. I think I might be starting to get it, at least at this level, with the kind help of both of you. Thanks! I'm starting to see how very involved layers can be built on these humble beginnings - Very elaborate backstories, scen...

Very nicely done! Layne covered the kudos well, so I won't repeat (I share them all !) except to add my thanks to you, Layne for a terrific administrative job. Jimmy lad - Do you have a title like, oh, say, "Clockwinder" which you would like us t...

Interesting, Ceejay, especially when you say "... all levels of RP and also Non-RP." I guess I kinda know what you mean. I read a bunch on the web about RP, had a couple RPers try to explain it to me. I dunno what it is I'm not getting. Maybe I've...

I'm finding this thread very interesting although I don't consider myself an RPer. Please, before I go on, understand that *in*no*way* is it my intention to fan flames of RP vs. non-RP. I'm trying to learn a little. I *am* a pretty heavy-duty ste...

What has brought you to New Babbage and SL Steampunk?
I love Steampunk! Gears, cogs, fantastic machines ... aaahh!

My impression after looking around a bit is that New Babbage is the most congenial of the Steampunk sims.
Could you provide a bit of background about yourself?
I broke my toys as a youngster just like most kids, but not by smashing them to smithereens. I would disassemble them to see how they worked then (usually) put them back together. One of my earliest dreams was to be a mad scientist. Heheh. Rube Goldberg is a wonderful role model.

As a lifelong gadgeteer, I have a particular fondness for 19th century tech. In today's black box world, few see the innards of modern devices. Steampunk-era machines exposed many if not all of the working parts for all to see. Combined with excellent craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal, this is a techie's dream, one that I enjoy pursuing in Second Life.

Say Goodbye to the Bob Street Rats!~

Enough is enough. The rats on Bob Street have got to go. I can't even concentrate on my insane & useless ingenius experiments and devices with those little buggers scurrying around. It seems they will get into anything, even my special, unh, tonics I keep under lock & key.

Bob won't do anything about this menace. When I mention it to him, he mumbles something about "all those little knives." Outrageous!

I've managed to fry a few now & then using high-powered Tesla spa… Continue

Mad Science at Sea

I've rented a boat slip in the Vernian Sea as a way of extending my researches into Tesla phenomena. The research vessel is dockside along with a newly constructed Tesla power station. It's just a short walk from my home laboratory on Bob Street where I continue to fry rats in high voltage arcs for amusement and relaxation.

I cannot at this time reveal the exact nature of my, ah, investigations. It's probably advisable, however, to take with a grain of salt the rumors about training electric ee… Continue

You flatter me Mr. Mandelbrot! It was a lovely conversation and a very nice dance indeed. I look forward to speaking with you again soon. Though I'll be careful to check the rooflines before venturing down Bob Street.
