Can I get a show of hands of all RPer who have D&D background.
And do you think it has an influence on Babbage RP?

*hesitently raises her hand* Aye, I'm a super geek...but that should be obvious anyway.

*raises both hands and a foot* Actually, I'm just a huge geeky lover of RP in all of it's forms. I've spent most of my life happily engaged in text-based online RP with good friends, dabbled in forum-based RP, have been known to spend a turn or two at GM-led RP, and my love of RP via Second Life is fairly obvious, considering where I'm posting this. I actually prefer the freeform-based RPing a bit more than stricter D&D standards, but I will admit that having a dedicated GM keeps the plot moving.

*raises a wing* D&D and other games. Does it affect my roleplay in New Babbage? Only insofar as I have a fair idea of how to draw out a shared idea into a shared story.

Late 1977, the first D&D "Basic Set". Does it influence me today? Only insofar as it's what got me into RPGs in the first place. Today I generally find it too mechanical.

No D&D but I love all different forms of RP. I mostly only have time to do so on the fly when I am in world. One of the reasons I love Babbage so much. Its such a completely immersive atmosphere that I find myself just pulled in. The RP that happens is effortless and seems to happen naturally.

Not D&D or any Tabletop games. I come from an IRC FFRP background which yes, really DOES influence things.

if I say I've got the Original Player's Handbook on my bookshelf, would that mean anything?
