Thank you for posting the pictures, Nell. And, I hope you do not mind the addition...

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die.
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

As I set the mental image of two of the finest urchins, standing at attention and saluting, tears begin to flow. While I was only a soldier for a short while, it does not change the fact that I was part of a much grander thing than I had even been part of before. So, I say not only you are welcome, but a huge thank you to our current military, past military, and those that have fallen. You will always have a place in my heart and in my thoughts.

Most of us are relatively "free" because historically so many made the ultimate sacrifice. That thought needs preserving. Who knows where we would be now if it wasn't for such bravery and selflessness.

((Nell...for once, this typist is without words...)) *quietly begins to log off his laptop, brushes the sand from his boots and lays down to rest in a hooch he is keeping for the next 6mos - yr, 7110 miles from home and New Babbage...*
